1. Campaigns - We’re looking back at a few campaigns that got it right. In no particular order, these are a few of our favourites.

   Nike — One Day We Won’t Need This Day

   A simple but powerful idea: the goal of International Women’s Day should ultimately be to make itself unnecessary. Nike’s campaign flipped the usual celebration into a provocation — imagining a future where women’s achievements don’t need a single day of recognition because equality is simply the norm.

   Netflix — Because She Watched

   Launched in 2020, Netflix’s campaign celebrated stories created by and about women. The platform curated a collection of series, documentaries and films selected by female creators both in front of and behind the camera — including Sophia Loren, Salma Hayek and Millie Bobby Brown — highlighting the importance of representation in shaping culture.

   Mercedes-Benz — Be One of Many

   This 2023 campaign challenged the usual “first woman to…” narrative often used around International Women’s Day. Instead, it argued that real progress happens when women being engineers, leaders or innovators is no longer exceptional or surprising — when participation becomes normal rather than headline-worthy.

2. Exhibitions - Our next gallery day agenda is looking strong. Tracey Emin: A Second Life at Tate Modern, a major survey running from 26 February to 31 August 2026, bringing together more than 90 works across painting, sculpture and neon.

   Also just opened is Catherine Opie: To Be Seen at the National Portrait Gallery (5 March – 31 May 2026), the first major UK exhibition dedicated to the American photographer’s 30-year career.

   And at the Barbican Art Gallery there’s a retrospective of Colombian artist Beatriz González (25 February – 10 May 2026), whose vibrant work transforms political history into bold, graphic imagery.

   

3. Films - A few films directed by women have landed on our watch list recently. Hamnet, directed by Chloé Zhao and based on Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, explores the life of William Shakespeare and the death of his young son. It’s as beautiful as it is devastating — consider this your emotional warning.

   We also revisited Past Lives by Celine Song, one of our favourites from the last few years. The film follows two childhood friends from Seoul who reconnect in New York decades after being separated, quietly exploring love, timing and the lives we might have lived.

   And Goodbye Train (2024), a short drama directed by Chioma Edimofor, which follows a university student travelling home after a summer breakup. A quiet, reflective film about loneliness and transition.

4. Podcasts - A few podcast episodes we’ve been listening to lately.

   The latest episode of The Messy Truth, hosted by Gem Fletcher, features photographer Chieska Fortune Smith discussing her journey through photography and the role of collective learning in shaping her practice.

   We’ve also had Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain on repeat, particularly the latest episode “Knowing When to Quit.”

   And a recent episode of Aspire with Emma Grede, where she speaks with designer Kelly Wearstler about scaling a business while keeping a brand’s creative identity intact.

5. Books - And finally a few books sitting on our reading pile this month.

   The Women by Kristin Hannah has been everywhere recently and is firmly on our to-be-read list.

   We’re also adding A Hymn to Life by Gisèle Pelicot - a powerful and deeply personal reflection that has been widely discussed since its release.

   And pretty much anything by Lily King. But if you haven’t read Writers & Lovers, consider this your sign.

1. Super Bowl ads
We love the Super Bowl ads. The scale, the craft, the ambition – it always feels like a moment where the industry really shows off. A few favourites from this year:

‘The Game Is Ours’ By Dove. A bold, movement-led spot centred on more than 90 young athletes, using collective choreography across swimming, track and field, American football and MMA to capture the unstoppable force of confident girls coming together. The focus is on what their bodies can do – not how they look – when playing sport. Powerful and timely. From Ogilvy. Directed by Savanah Leaf. Choreography by JaQuel Knight.

‘The Great Invitation: Drivers Wanted’ by Volkswagen. ‘Drivers Wanted’ has long been part of Volkswagen’s human-centric approach to design and culture. This latest iteration reframes the line as an open invitation to say yes to curiosity and individuality, positioning driving as an expression of optimism rather than just transport. Set to House of Pain’s Jump Around and created by Johannes Leonardo. Directed by Leigh Powis.

‘Jurassic Park… Works’ by Xfinity. One for the nostalgia and lols... Comcast’s Xfinity makes its Super Bowl debut with a playful reimagining of Jurassic Park, reuniting Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum 33 years on. Directed by Taika Waititi, the spot imagines how the 1993 classic might have unfolded if the park had been powered by Xfinity.

2. Super Bowl Half Time Show.
At Good Things, while we appreciate the sport, we were really here for the half time show. And wow — it was cinema. Tribe Inc., has been producing the halftime show for nearly two decades. Every moment felt meticulously staged but emotionally charged, with Bad Bunny delivering a performance that felt like a cultural statement as much as a spectacle. The choreography. The design. The scale. And our favourite bit? The dancers dressed as plants.

3. Architectural Digest x Lisa Kudrow
To celebrate Los Angeles in the wake of last year’s devastating fires, Architectural Digest asked a group of iconic Angelenos to share their favourite local places. Lisa Kudrow’s contribution is a love letter to the Warner Bros. lot that shaped her career. Watch it HERE.

4. ‘My First Rodeo’ – Kelby Reck
We love this project by Phoenix-based photographer and director Kelby Reck. Growing up in the Midwest, Reck spent years around farm life but had never experienced a rodeo. This series documents that first encounter — from barrel racing to bull riding — capturing the intensity, adrenaline and atmosphere of the environment with a cinematic eye.

Working across digital and film, Reck approaches the rodeo as both spectacle and discovery, finding moments shaped by speed, precision and raw energy.

5. Yoji Takeshige on Studio Ghibli
For a bit of escapism, we loved this interview on It’s Nice That with art director and background artist Yoji Takeshige.

He talks through the evolution of Studio Ghibli’s visual language and the creative process behind building the worlds of My Neighbor Totoro and beyond. A beautiful reminder of the patience and imagination that goes into hand-crafted animation.

1. NGV - Women In Photography exhibition

We rang in the new year in Melbourne and spent a few quiet hours wandering the NGV, where Women in Photography 1900–1975: A Legacy of Light stood out immediately. The exhibition brings together the work of more than eighty women photographers working across continents and decades, tracing how women have shaped visual culture while also shaping images of themselves, their communities, and their times.

2. Poloroid ‘The Camera for an Analog Life’ campaign

We think Polaroid’s latest campaign for the launch of the Flip camera feels like a timely pause button. In a smartphone-saturated world, The Camera for an Analog Life directly addresses digital exhaustion, pairing honest Polaroid images with lines that ask us to look up, slow down, and reconnect.

“We are analog creatures, built to connect through our senses but the more we lose ourselves in digital algorithms, the more we drift away from empathy and real connection. There is something magical in a Polaroid picture. It captures the humanness in all of us, wrinkles and all, and reminds us that the best of life happens in the real, physical world.”

3. Love Holidays Campaign

As book lovers, this campaign hit a sweet spot for the GTH team. Holiday Reads by Ark Agency is a beautifully simple out-of-home campaign for Loveholidays, pairing the feeling of travel with the pleasure of reading.

Shot by Eleonora d’Angelo on Spain’s Costa Brava, each execution shows someone absorbed in a book on holiday, with titles like Cloud Nine, Last Night a DJ Saved My Life, and This Is Happiness doing much of the storytelling work. It’s smart without being clever, transportive without trying too hard — proof that a strong idea, well executed, still goes a long way.

4. ‘Nirvana’ by Daesung Lee

This photo project by Daesung Lee is a moving collaboration between mother and son, exploring resilience, humour, and identity across generations of Korean women. By photographing his mother in a series of playful, honest portraits, Lee reframes her not only as a parent but as an individual with her own interior life, history, and strength.

The work holds space for hardship without heaviness, and for joy without sentimentality. It’s a reminder of photography’s quiet power — not just to document, but to deepen relationships and allow new ways of seeing the people closest to us.

5. Heated Rivalry

Everyone needs a guilty pleasure to get through January. Ours is Heated Rivalry, and we’re not feeling bad about it. Not exactly plane-friendly viewing though please note— consider this a gentle warning.

1. New York Times Magazine - An Actor’s Guide to Big Feelings

This year’s Oscar portfolio from The New York Times hits different. The team enlisted the cult photographer Paul Kooiker to shoot the portfolio, whose unique way of seeing and feeling his way through the world has cultivated a mercurial practice that is not easy to place. Amongst the playful yet irreverent portraits of Teyana Taylor, Jacob Elordi, Kathleen Chalfant and others, we flashback to the subtle cinema of the 40’s, where actors let their emotional performances do all the talking. We adore it!

2. Rest in Power, Martin Parr

We at GTH HQ were sad to hear of the passing of the iconic British Photographer Martin Parr, whose whimsical humour has shaped the photography landscape for many decades. To honour Martin, we are sharing a recent interview filmed in his archive so our readers can take a minute to cherish this brilliant man!

3. Architectural Digest - Wicked For Good

To all our fellow production nerds and those with a penchant for the Wicked franchise, AD just released this super fun video showcasing the incredible world-building for the new film. Nathan Crowley takes us BTS on how he recreated the Yellow Brick Road using painted scenic backings inspired by the 1939 ‘Wizard of Oz’ and staged Kiamo Ko for Elphaba and Glinda to sing ‘No Good Deed’ and ‘For Good’. This is a first-hand look at how timeless Hollywood artistry and modern design come together to reimagine Oz for a new generation.

4. The GTH Gift Guide

Last-minute gift shopping? Us too! What’s better than gifting a beautiful photobook during the holidays? It’s chic, creative and supports the arts as well. A few of our favourites this year include this cute rom-com starring Kiera Knightley and Joe Wilkinson for Waitrose, Google’s genius Pixel Actually, which hits the right balance of nostalgia and self-awareness, and, of course, Dr Oetker Baking - Ginger’s Christmas!

We are huge Andrea Gibson fans at GTH HQ, and you must run, not walk, to watch the incredible documentary made about them and their partner, poet Megan Falley. At GTH HQ, we are huge Diane Keaton fans and were devastated to learn of her passing. To celebrate her iconic contribution to culture, we’ve been rewatching all her classics from Family Stone to Father of the Bride and First Wives Club to Annie Hall. We’ve also been rereading her brilliant memoir, Then Again. Rest in Power Diane.

Shot on 35mm film in the US and UK, OpenAI’s new campaign follows different characters using ChatGPT to cook, learn, travel and reach personal goals—an elegant piece of brand storytelling that shows AI slipping quietly into everyday life. Nike’s latest campaign “Why Do It?” is a contemporary take on their iconic concept, reimagined for a new generation living in a different world.. Designed to connect with young athletes where they are, the campaign reframes greatness as a choice, emboldening them to write the next chapter. The cinematic anthem features a global cast of Nike athletes who embody the raw, unfiltered side of sport: Carlos Alcaraz, Saquon Barkley, LeBron James, Rayssa Leal, Qinwen Zheng and was directed by Iconoclast directors Vania and Muggia.

3. Marie Antoinette Style at the V&A

We can’t wait to check out the V&A’s new exhibition celebrating the complex fashion icon, Marie Antoinette. Her timeless appeal is defined by her style, youth and notoriety and this show brings together the most fashionable (and ill-fated) queen in history – with over 250 years of design, fashion, film and art.

4. Gap - ‘Better In Denim’ campaign

Did advertising get good again? If Gap’s autumn campaign is anything to go by, we are moving into a new era. Directed by Bethany Vargas and stills shot by Bjorn Iooss, the campaign which features global girl group Katseye gives early 2000’s music video vibes set to Kelis’s milkshake, while also honouring the brand’s history and using dance as a unifying force.

5. Aria Shahrokhshahi - SKETCHBOOK VOLUME 3 at 10.14 Gallery

Aria Shahrokhshahi presents SKETCHBOOK VOLUME 3, extending his ongoing work in Ukraine investigating how images carry, fracture, and transmit collective memory. In collaboration with BASE UA, Aria spent the last few years working with children living along the front line in the Donbas, many of whom have been out of school since the pandemic and the full-scale invasion in Ukraine. Each child was given Soviet-era postcards - relics of a prior ideological vision of Ukraine - and invited to draw over them. What emerged were not images of war, but of grandmothers, favourite foods, palm trees, suns: palimpsests in which the failed promises of the past are overlaid with resilient visions of the future. All proceeds from SKETCHBOOK VOLUME 3 go directly to BASE UA’s work supporting children living on the front lines.

2. Wednesday Season 2

   Everyone at GTH HQ has been bingeing the second season of Wednesday, which just landed on Netflix. From the fashion to the wolfing out, we adore this show. If you’re a fantasy nerd like us, check out Architectural Digest’s BTS at Nevermore Academy BTS hosted by actress Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair) and production designer Mark Scruton.

3. Utterly Lazy and Inattentive by Martin Parr

   We had this new book from Martin Parr on pre-order for a while, and it just arrived. Highly recommend it if you are interested in discovering more about the inner mind of this iconic British Street Photographer.

3. Schools Back campaign by 4Creative

   Channel 4 unveiled the launch film for their latest campaign, School’s Back, to promote the return of the BAFTA-winning series Educating Yorkshire. Harnessing the power of youth, the star cast of the new trailer are the real students of Thornhill Community Academy in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, the school where Educating Yorkshire is filmed. Dougal Wilson has directed the film Wilson, is an immersive one-take film taking viewers on a dynamic tour through the actual school, highlighting talent from science experiments to live music performances by the school band ‘Unjust Detention’. With a child launched from a cannon and bike stunts in the playground, Wilson and 4creative place complete trust in the energy and creativity of young people.

5. Lightroom - Discovering Dinosaurs

   We love an immersive experience, and it doesn’t get better than Lightroom’s large-scale storytelling journeys. After loving The Moonwalkers and David Hockney: Bigger and Closer, we can’t wait to see the summer 2025 program - Discovering Dinosaurs. Narrated by Damian Lewis, the show explores the extraordinary story of dinosaurs — from their dominance 66 million years ago to their lasting legacy today.

Women's football is having a massive impact on sport, creativity and culture at large right now. A recent highlight was Nike's Lionesses kit drop campaign, which perfectly captures the energy in the game right now: fun, political, and powerful. 2. Oasis Reunion Tour

It's Oasis season for those who celebrate. At HQ, we've jumped on the nostalgia bandwagon and can't get enough of the memes, in-jokes and general buzz around their iconic return to the stage. The content has been great too - in particular, this film collaboration with Adidas Originals directed by Leigh Powis. After thirty years of shared history, the two forces joined together to celebrate a legacy that continues to live on, rooted in music, fashion and British identity.

3. Justin Vivian Bond: Well, Well, Well,

During our downtime on a recent shoot in New York, we caught Justin Vivian Bond’s latest show, Well, Well, Well, at Joe's Pub. The set was ninety minutes of pure Queer joy, in which Bond continued to highlight the brilliance of our greatest lesbian, trans, queer, and gender non-conforming singer-songwriters. If it tours, highly recommend snagging tickets.

4. We Were Liars

We've all been binge-watching the new Amazon Prime show, We Were Liars, which delivers summer vibes with a splash of emo drama. In short, the perfect summer watch. And the last episode is written by one of our favourite authors, E. Lockhart. 

5. The Cutting Room Floor Podcast

If you have been sleeping on OMONDI’s audio sensation over the last few years, it’s time to wake up. Nicknamed "Fashion's Only Fashion Show", her intimate deep-dive interviews with figures in the fashion world offer a fresh perspective to an industry long shrouded in mystery. Some of our favourite episodes feature Isabella Burley, Telfar Clemens, and Cynthia Erivo.

British documentary photographer Hannah Norton collaborates with individuals and communities misrepresented in the mainstream media. Through a long-term engagement centred around portraiture, she finds visual language that disrupts stereotypes and informs new ways of thinking. We discovered her beautiful portrait of 'Mia' from her forthcoming series exploring the community of Girlhood at Photo London, presented by the Sarabande Foundation.

2. Dazed Maxx

The internet was set ablaze recently with news that Dazed and Nike have come together to launch Dazed Maxx, a new zine spotlighting the subcultures of sport edited by athletes Bijan Robinson, Sunny Choi and Tobey McIntosh. Inside, the athletes-turned-cultural editors guide us through the sports subcultures bubbling across New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta, crafting experiments that explore the future of sport. The mag takes sports fandom to the next level.

3. Monsters: What Do We Do with Great Art by Bad People?

Amy’s just finished reading Claire Dederer’s incredible book Monsters, an exhilarating attempt to understand our relationship with art and the artist in the twenty-first century. She highly recommends it!

4. Burberry x Highgrove

At the studio, we have been swooning over the new Burberry x Highgrove campaign shot by Camille Summers-Valli, featuring actors Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Carmichael and Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù in various states of repose in King Charles III's private residence.

5. STRANDS & STRUCTURES by Asia Clarke and Christian Saint

This powerful photo-documentary exhibition, curated by Esmeralda Tan and recently on show at OSCAM Amsterdam, features the visionary work of Asia Clarke, a Canadian-born Afro-Caribbean multidisciplinary artist, and Christian Saint, a Ghanaian artist, film director, and creative producer. Together, they examine Afro hair sculptures within Accra's evolving landscapes, unraveling deep connections between hair, identity, and the Anthropocene.

We love Nike's new campaign, So Win, which celebrates athletes who win, lead and dominate despite constantly being told how they should act, what they can't do and who they can't be.

Directed by Kim Gehrig and featuring Jordan Chiles, Caitlin Clark, Sabrina Ionescu, Sha'Carri Richardson, A'ja Wilson and Sophia Wilson, "So Win" celebrates the endurance of women athletes.

2. The Making of 'Someday,' a film by Spike Jonze for Apple.

As a team that spends most of its time on set, we know the cultural significance of taking people behind the scenes. So often, the craft of advertising gets overlooked or minimized compared to other creative disciplines, so giving people a window into our world is vital. Apple did it beautifully in their recent Making of 'Someday,' directed by Spike Jonze and starring everyone's favorite underdog, Pedro Pascal.

3. Photo London

Photo London returns to Somerset House this year for its tenth edition of the photography fair. The team at Good Things will be attending, and we can't wait to see new work by Jesse Glazzard, Pia Guilmoth, and Molly Matalon. If you can't make it, it's definitely worth checking out their archive of talks online here. We particularly love the conversations with Maisie Cousins, Alec Soth, Liz Johnson Artur, and Katy Grannan.

4. Vivek Vadoliya’s new shoot ‘La Chinesca’ for Rouge Fashionbook

We love this stunning shoot by Vivek Vadoliya. On IG, he writes about the project, "Mixing two different cultures can be messy, layered and emotional. But when there's respect and curiosity, it can become something special, with new languages and identities forming. La Chinesca is one of the oldest Chinatowns in Mexico, nestled in the border city of Mexicali, just across from California. Chinese immigrants first arrived here in the late 19th century, seeking refuge after facing discrimination in the U.S. and other parts of Mexico. Today, the Chinese diaspora is a huge part of Mexicali, with generations living across the city. More than just a neighbourhood, it's living proof that identity isn't static—it's a dialogue, a constant exchange between communities that continues to shape the city's food, people, and landscape. This project is a love letter to that legacy—a visual ode to resilience, reinvention, and the powerful collision of histories that define who we are. La Chinesca is still discovering its identity, a generation at a time."

5.  Hollywood stuntman David Leitch’s home

Thanks to Architectural Digest, we all got a sneak peak into the home of iconic stuntman David Leitch whose Redondo Beach residence came to be known as ‘The Stunt House.’ Unbeknownst to the landlord, the residing stuntmen-in-training dug a hole in the backyard to accommodate an Olympic-size trampoline where, for four years, between workouts, part-time jobs and Jackie Chan movies, the roommates would practice falling – over and over and over again.⁠ We love nothing more than someone obsessed with craft!

The team at Good Things Happen recently travelled to Mérida in Mexico’s Yucatán state for Paradiso, a new four-day creative retreat which aims to reimagine how the creative community comes together. Created by Héctor Ayuso [the brains behind Barcelona's renowned OFF], the festival blended a retreat, conference and an activity-packed school trip offering everything from a morning run club and creative workshops to live performances and experimental talks [no keynotes allowed!]. One of our highlights was hearing from MEXICO IS THE SHIT, an apparel brand founded by Anuar Layón which celebrates cutting-edge Mexican design nationally and internationally. 2. Nicolas Heller [aka New York Nico]

Following the release of his debut book, New York Nico’s Guide to NYC, the director and documentary filmmaker, Nicolas Heller sat down with It's Nice That's US editor at large Elizabeth Goodspeed to discuss the origins of his widely loved Instagram page, his career in filmmaking and why he's intent on capturing the city's most charismatic characters. We love Alice Poyzer’s incredible personal work “Other Joys,” an autobiographical story about autism and celebrating our differences. 

4. Law Roach

We are huge fans of Law Roach—the inimitable Image Architect, author, visionary and personal stylist to Zendaya—who has a hold on the cultural zeitgeist that knows no bounds. This month, we got our Law fix, not once but twice. First, in the sci-fi-themed On Running campaign, he styled [BTS here], shot by Nadia Lee Cohen - we adore! Followed closely by his epic shoot in American Vogue celebrating the new exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute and the 2025 Met Gala theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. Together with Tyler Mitchell, Roach tells the story of Black dandyism as a joyous sartorial force through a cast of actors, musicians, designers, models, athletes, and more—from Spike Lee and Dapper Dan to Ayo Edebiri and Janelle Monae.

5. Touch Film

Shameless plug of our latest short film Touch, which just picked up a Best Romantic Short and Best Director credit at the LA International Short Awards. Directed by Sam Robinson and shot in Los Angeles, New York, London and Tokyo, Touch follows 100 people who share their stories of human connection in a beautiful and energetic collision of culture, history and experience. We are currently unable to share the film publically, as it goes through the festival circuit, but email us if you would like to see it.
